Mr. Searles started his career working for numerous architectural and contracting firms. His earlier years gave him a wealth of knowledge in the construction industry and he brings that knowledge to the design table in order to produce well thought out structural layout with the most cost effective alternatives addressed.
1984 - Managed east end office for Andrew J. Schmitz III. Shared responsibilities for operation of firm. Design management, budgeting, scheduling and overall review of all projects.
1990 - Obtained license to practice architecture in the State of New York by demonstrating 12 years of recognized experience in lieu of formal education and successfully completing the State Licensing Exam.
1991 - Established Architecture East as a sole proprietor. Designed many office complexes, retail centers, and day care facilities throughout the east end of Long Island. Was the principal architect for the North Shore Public Library (Shoreham Wading River Library expansion), Sylvan Meadows luxury apartment complex, Port Jefferson, New York, Ramp Chevrolet Corvette showroom, Port Jefferson, New York, Jefferson Park office complex, Setauket, New York, Tudor Time Child Care Learning Centers, Setauket, New York and Stony Brook, New York and O.B Davis Funeral Home, Miller Place, New York, and worked on countless residential projects.
2003 - Formed partnership with Robert Stromski and changed firm name to Searles, Stromski, Associates, Architects Planners, P.C. Serves as managing partner providing overall review of all projects, design management, budgeting and scheduling.
Mr. Searles has always tried to serve his community. He served on a select committee created to conduct a hamlet study for Wading River, New York and was a leading proponent of the establishment of the Town of Riverhead Architectural Review Board. Since its inception in 1989 Mr. Searles has served as the Vice-Chairman of the Architectural Review Board where his duties include review of all commercial projects, multi-family residential projects and all sign applications within the Town of Riverhead.
